Claudia Stocker is a science artist based in Bristol. Her work focuses on interpreting scientific data and visualising scientific subjects in a way that explains processes and interactions. She is particularly interested in subjects that are too small to see clearly, such as molecular biology, chemical structures and microbes.
Explaining cellular processes frequently involves distorting scales and exaggerating form in order to ensure that the necessary scientific details are visible. The choice of which details are permissable to distort and which must be displayed accurately is always an interesting problem to solve.
Claudia is also director of science design studio Vivid Biology. She is currently studying for an MSc in Science Communication. She holds an MSci in Systems Biology from the University of Cambridge.
